Exposure to nature can reduce stress levels in kids by as much as 28%.

How long does a kid actually spend in outdoor camps and outdoor adventures over their life?

We’ll start by assuming that, on average, a kid spends around 5 years in various camps and outdoor adventures.  Camp lengths vary from region to region.  In the northeast, it’s not uncommon for some camps to run 8 week summer camp sessions with the same group of kids all summer.  Many camps on the west coast run 1 to 2 week session summer camps.  And camps everywhere will also feature winter, spring and family camps for the kids as well.  We figured the stats and were surprised with the following results:

Time Spent in Kids Camps and Outdoor Adventures A (431x432)
Time Spent in Kids Camps and Outdoor Adventures B (431x432)

That means that over 5 years of outdoor adventures and camp fun, your kid will have enjoyed…

17 & 1/2 Weeks or

4 & 1/2 Months

47 & 1/2 Weeks

or 1 Year

Of confidence building outdoor activities, new friends, empowering personal moments, and community inspired camps.

“The national panic about kids spending too much time indoors has become so extreme that the crisis has a name: Nature deficit disorder.”
