Who Owns Camp or Program:
Camp Values Statement
Taken directly from their website:
“Camp Huawni is THE summer camp of all summer camps in Texas that you will hate leaving. For over half a century, Camp Huawni has specialized in youth development and good ‘ole fashion fun. In 1965, founder Earl Adams, known around here as Daddy Earl, turned his life-long dream of starting a kids camp into a reality. As a life-long educator, Daddy Earl noticed that kids, just like you, weren’t experiencing fully the joys of “just being a kid” in the structured environment of a K-12 school. So, with some pine planks, a hammer, and a hill-top view once scattered with sugar cane, Camp Huawni was born. Now, three generations later, Camp Huawni continues to pour into the next generation.
Counselors You Want Your Kids to Grow Up and Be Like. – So what keeps your friends coming back to Huawni like a Krispy-Kreme donut? Other than the fact that we’re experts at fun, we provide an electrified environment for friendships to flourish, and we do it with over-the-top counselors. Just think – you have this cool, college-aged older sister or brother who actually bugs you to play with them. That’s really how it is, and they love you just like you are…you don’t have to pretend to be popular or someone you’re not.
Love the Kids – Our mission is to LTK, or love the kids. We define love as accepting where one currently is and fighting for who one truly is. Loving our campers and each other includes using uplifting language, putting others first, embracing virtue, and encouraging our friends. So how do we share the love with you? It’s a simple yet an all too diminishing commodity – our time.
True Significance & Purpose – In the context of crazy fun, being outdoors, long-standing tradition, and rich relationships, our big goal at camp is for your son or daughter to leave our gates knowing their true significance and purpose, which we believe is found in knowing and being known by Jesus. True significance means that we want your child to embrace their one-of-a-kind, throughout time uniqueness. Purpose means that your child was created to change the world and do something special only they have the ability to do. We have campers from all different ethnic and faith backgrounds that feel comfortable at Camp Huawni.”

That’s A Wrap!
Hopefully this breakdown provided some helpful insight into Camp Huawni. This camp places a large focus on providing the kids with a plethora of fun and varied activities. They have expansive water activities and a prolonged obstacle course that includes several roped elements.
They also divide the camp into two groups that will compete for the coveted Golden Pine Cone throughout the entire camp session. Camp activities such as these require passionate development over many camp seasons.
It is always refreshing to see a camp whose values are religiously-inclined, but are still accepting of everyone of all faiths. Its all about the kids at the end of the day. And delivering them opportunities to engage and create deep friendships of understanding with each other.
We know it can be tough trying to understand the nuts and bolts of a camp. And we’ll continue to dig for the essential camp info for our wonderful camp parents. Have a great time preparing your young camper for their unforgettable outdoor adventure!
